Scholarship Program

The Pacific Coast Corvettes (PCC) club scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be given once each year to the one eligible candidate who is a graduating senior at a high school with in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District in Orange County, California.  Because PCC wishes to encourage the continued advanced development of automotive technology and performance automobiles, and performance car enthusiast activities, the Scholarship Committee will give extra consideration to those applicants who can demonstrate a genuine interest in automobiles and automobile related activities.

The PCC Scholarship Committee will select one recipient each calendar year to receive the scholarship.  Selection of the intended scholarship recipient will be made by June 1st, and the scholarship disbursement will be made by September 15th subject to verification of enrolment as described below.  To be considered for the scholarship award, each applicant must meet the following requirements..

v  Submittal of (1) a completed application (including the completed Application Questionnaire) Download Here between February 15th and May 15th prior to the subsequent school year, (2) two personal references (as identified on the Personal References form completed by applicant),  (3) a copy of a letter of acceptance to a two or four year college or accredited trade school, and (4) an essay as described below.  The Application Form may be found on the web site (www.pccvettes.org) or sending a request to Scholarship@pccvettes.org.

 

v  Graduating high school seniors must have an overall GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 2.75.

v  Scholarship Essay Requirement – The essay is an important part of the PCC scholarship application.  It will help us become acquainted with the recipient in ways other than school courses, grades and test scores.   The essay must be between 300 and 500 words double spaced with one inch right and left margins.  Please select one of the following essay topics:

Ø  Share a significant experience, achievement or risk you have taken or an ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

Ø  Discuss an issue of personal, local, national or international concern and its importance to you.

Ø  Select a person known to you (family, acquaintance, teacher, pastor, etc.)  who has had a significant influence on you and describe that influence.

v  To qualify for receipt of this scholarship grant, applicants must be enrolled in a two or four year college or university, or accredited trade school approved by the PCC Scholarship Committee.  The student must be majoring or intending to major in S.T.E.M., or in a trade school related to design, development, maintenance or repair of automobile or automobile products. Verification of enrollment as described above shall be required before distribution of scholarship funds will be made, and such funds may be remitted to the selected applicant or, at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, directly to the school.  Scholarship recipients who fail to provide proof of enrollment in an approved college major or trade school program and within the allotted time will have their scholarship award selection revoked and the scholarship award may be given to another qualified applicant.

The PCC Scholarship Committee will consider all information provided by each of all scholarship applicants and determine, in its sole discretion, that applicant who is the most qualified to receive the scholarship award.  The committee may elect to interview certain applicants.  The decision of the PCC Scholarship Committee is final.
